Call for papers PDF

The call for papers for the NoPSA conference in Bergen is now open. The deadline for submitting paper proposals is 15 December 2023. We kindly ask you to send your abstract and title to the chairs of the workshop. Information about the workshops can be found in the link below.

You apply to a workshop by sending an email directly to the chairs of the workshop by 15 December containing the following:

a) the paper title,
b) abstract (150-200 words) and,
c) the name(s) of the author(s), institutional affiliation and email address.

The chairs will have the responsibility of accepting or rejecting the submissions they receive.

Participants are urged to attend every session of their workshop. Only exceptionally, and with the permission of the workshop leaders, may participants split time between different groups. However, this does not apply to participants of the Special workshop for early career scholars (Tuesday 25 June), who can participate in this and another workshop.

The NoPSA board may combine thematically related workshops whose number of participants is small. Workshops with 7 or fewer participants will normally not be allowed. An appropriate number of papers in each workshop would be on average 13-15, which gives an average of 45-60 minutes per paper.

Information about the conference format

The Nordic Political Science Congress is a conference based on workshops (usually 25-30 in number). Each workshop is coordinated by two or three workshop leaders, who are responsible for the practical matters, such as setting up the workshop schedule and allocating discussants to each paper. Participants attend all sessions of their respective workshops.

Workshop leaders are responsible for promoting the workshop and for selecting workshop participants based on submitted abstracts, following a call for papers/abstracts. Paper proposals are sent directly to the workshop leaders. Workshop leaders are also responsible for arranging the circulation of final papers to all workshop participants after the paper submission deadline.

Workshop guidelines

Workshop directors

  • Each workshop should have two directors (chair and vice-chair). They select participants, plan the daily activities of the workshop and are responsible for ensuring that papers are circulated within the group well before the Congress starts.

  • Workshops with leaders from different Nordic countries are prioritized when the NoPSA board approves workshops. Only under exceptional circumstances will workshops with leaders from the same university department or research institute be accepted.
