Vili Lehdonvirta is an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. He is an economic sociologist with a background in computer science. His research deals with topics such as digital marketplaces, online labour markets, online collective action, cryptocurrencies, and video game economies, especially from institutional and organizational perspectives, and using both conventional social research methods and novel data science approaches. His research is published in journals such as Sociology, Journal of Management, and New Media & Society. He is a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on the Online Platform Economy.
