Thomas Haipeter

Thomas Haipeter was born in 1967 in Bielefeld, Germany. He studied sociology, economy, and history in Bielefeld and finished his PhD “Codetermination at VW” at the University of Bremen in 1999. In 2000, he started to work as a researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen’s Institute for Work, Skills, and Training. There, he wrote his habilitation “Derogations of Collective Bargaining Agreements” in 2009. In 2010, he became head of the Working Time and Work Organization research department. His research interests are labor and employment relations, wages, working times, and work organization. He has published several papers in English, among them “The interests of white-collar workers and their representation in the German manufacturing sector”. In: Industrial relations journal 47 (4), pp 304–321, and “Profit sharing in the German metalworking and electrical engineering industries”.
