Rory Horner is a Senior Lecturer in Globalisation and Political Economy at the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester, and a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Geography, Environmental Management, and Energy Studies, University of Johannesburg. His research focuses on South-South value chains and the role of the state in global value chains. His empirical fieldwork has largely focused on the pharmaceutical industry. Rory is working on a major project on the South-South dynamics of India’s pharmaceutical industry and its implications in sub-Saharan Africa. His research has been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (UK), the US National Science Foundation, the British Academy, and the Regional Studies Association. His research has been published in leading journals in economic geography, development studies, and in the interdisciplinary fields of globalisation and political economy.
