Ingrid Harvold Kvangraven

Ingrid Harvold Kvangraven is a Lecturer in International Development at the University of York and holds a PhD in Economics from The New School for Social Research. Her work centers on the role of finance in development, structural features of underdevelopment, and political economy analysis of international development policy. She has approached the role of finance in several ways, for example through critical assessments of the role financial inclusion in development, and through research on the role of sovereign debt in development. She is also interested in unpacking the debates about dependency theory, ultimately to investigate its usefulness in order to understand processes of economic and human development. She is also the founder and editor of the blog Developing Economics, Associate Editor of The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics, member of the Management Committee of the Association for Heterodox Economics, member of the editorial board of Third World Thematics, founder and steering group member of Diversifying and Decolonising Economics and founding advisory board member of Rethinking Economics – Norway.
