Ana Urraca-Ruiz holds a degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain, 1989) and a PhD in Economic Sciences from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (Spain, 1998). She was a Visiting Student at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of the University of Sussex (UK, 1994-1995) and a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Universitá degli Studi di Siena (Italy, 2010). She is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Economics at Universidade Federal Fluminense, participating in undergraduate and graduate programs. She works in the areas of Industrial Economics and Economics of Innovation and Technological Change, working mainly on the following topics: technological internationalization, national technological specialization and its links with productive and trade specialization; economic growth, convergence and structural change; national patterns of innovation and national and firm’s technological competences. She was editor-in-chief of the ECONÔMICA/PPGE-UFF Journal from March 2008 to December 2009 and is currently a member of the editorial board of the Brazilian Journal of Innovation (Campinas-Unicamp). She is also a member of the Brazilian Association of Industrial Economics (ABEIN) and of the LALICS networks (Red Latinoamericana para el estudio de los Sistemas de Aprendizaje,. Innovación y Construcción de Competencias) and GLOBELICS (Global innovation and competence building in the context of economic development) networks.
