Position Details
Role: Assistant/Associate Professor (Maître·sse de Conférences)
Focus Area: Computational sociology of work
Location: Télécom Paris, Palaiseau, France
Start Date: September 1, 2025 (or as soon as mutually feasible)
Affiliation: Research Associate at i3 (Institut Interdisciplinaire de l’Innovation, CNRS)
Research Context
The Department of Social and Economic Sciences (SES) at Télécom Paris has been integral to the institution for over four decades, integrating sociology into engineering education. The new position will advance research on:
- AI’s impact on work and public policy
- The intersection of ecological and digital transitions
- The evolution of social relationships
Responsibilities
Research:
- Contribute to themes in organizations, work, environment, and AI
- Utilize diverse methods: qualitative and quantitative research, network analysis, digital trace analysis, computational sociology
- Engage in international research collaborations
Teaching:
- Teach general sociology, digital sociology, and Science and Technology Studies (STS)
- Integrate computational methods into social science education
- Develop new courses in digital social sciences
Requirements
- PhD in Sociology or Computer Science (or related fields such as Economics, Philosophy, Information Systems, Media Studies, Law, Anthropology)
- Expertise in research project design and diverse methodologies (qualitative and quantitative, network analysis, digital platform data, computational social science)
- International research experience
- Willingness to learn French
