The research aims to analyse how several countries from the integrated periphery are taking advantage of the window of opportunity that the emergence of the EVs market presents. The investigation will examine the differences and similarities between a sample of national cases with the objective of unraveling the difficulties and challenges for the development of the value chain of EVs in Argentina. The project seeks to compare the main vehicle manufacturing nations of two regional trade blocs, MERCOSUR and ASEAN, as well as two additional countries associated with industrial centers, Mexico and Turkey, between the years 2008 and 2023. The research will adopt GVC and green industrial policy theoretical approaches and will employ a mixed-method strategy using case studies based on various primary and secondary sources.
