China’s Technology Strategy in the 21st Century: the challenge of overcoming a subordinate integration in global production

The challenges posed by the international production, especially since the 1990s, in terms of consolidating an intellectual monopoly capitalism, were decisive for China to build a new technological development strategy, motivated by its ambition to occupy strategic and leadership positions in global value chains. The ongoing research proposes to analyze this strategy from the perspective of the importance of the State’s role in strengthening an innovation system, looking carefully, mainly, at aspects related to the intellectual property protection regime designed by the Asian country.
