Rohan Restaurant
Upon entering the restaurant the first thing seen by a customer will be the long counter set in a classical Japanese-style interior. You might think it is an exclusive Kyo Kaiseki (Kyoto-style course) restaurant, but actually, this is the place where diners can enjoy a rather casual and “at-home” Japanese set menu like simmered fish and grilled pork with ginger. However, the ingredients are all of excellent quality. The owner and chef, Mr. Sugisawa, who trained himself in renowned Kyoto cuisine restaurants, like Muromachi Wakuden and Kikunoi, never compromises in his choice of the best ingredients for his dishes. The finest section of Shinshu Beef (from Nagano prefecture) and chicken from Tanba (Kyoto prefecture) are some of the examples. Diners can order only the main dish from the set menu so if you are not very hungry or just interested in one particular dish, just tell the chef and he will be pleased to serve you. Unique Japanese menu items such as cod roe pickled in sake lee and dried kasago (marbled rockfish) will be good company with a glass of sake. “I don’t feel like having a full course.” “I want to enjoy my choice of good food” – Rohan will fulfill your “selfish” request and never fail to satisfy them.
