Prof. Dr. Thorsten Schulten, born 1966, studied Political Science, Economics and Sociology at the University of Marburg/Germany where he got his Ph.D.  in 2004. Since 1997 he works at a senior researcher at the Institute for Economic and Social Research (Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliches Institut, WSI) at the Hans Böckler Foundation in Düsseldorf/Germany  – the foundation closely related to the German Trade Unions.  Since 2017 he is the scientific head of the WSI Collective Agreements Archive – the central collection and research center for collective agreements in Germany. In 2016 Thorsten was appointed as an honorary professor at the Institute for Political Science of the University of Tübingen.
