
Matthieu Montalban is an assistant professor of economics at the University of Bordeaux, Bordeaux School of Economics. He specializes in the economics of innovation, industrial organization, and finance. His main contributions focus on analyzing the transformations of capitalism, particularly financialization and digitalization, at a meso-level, drawing on the French regulation school. He has researched topics such as financialization and the transformation of business models, the regulation of the pharmaceutical industry, private equity in relation to the diversity of capitalism, platform capitalism and its effects on business models, labor relations in food delivery markets, and monetary regimes and sovereignty. More recently, leveraging his expertise in the digital and health industries, he has turned his attention to analyzing the epistemic community surrounding Big Tech and the transhumanist movement, as well as exploring the potential of digital health as a solution to the cost diseases in the healthcare sector.
