Global Forum on Democratizing Work

During the first lock-down in May 2020, thousands of academics signed the op-ed

Since then, the group of scholars supporting this effort has felt a responsibility to sustain this conversation. A Global Forum has been organized for the 1st anniversary of the release of the op-ed, and which will discuss its 3 principles in a participatory way: October 5 will be dedicated to the DEMOCRATIZING principle, October 6 the DECOMMODIFYING principle, and October 7 the DECARBONIZING principle.

The full program features 380 speakers (including, among others, Anahi Durand, Thomas Piketty, Jayati Ghosh, Sara Nelson, Ndongo Sylla, Adenike Oladosu, François Gemenne, Liz Medina, Ashwani Kumar, and Amitabh Beharetc) across more than 100 panels in 9 different languages. 5 continents will be represented, and 16 countries now include a #DemocratizingWork national chapter (a.o. USA, India, Philippines, Brazil, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Italy, etc.)

Each day, the panels are grouped around 2 plenary sessions, a keynote followed by a panel discussion, all staging stellar speakers. Check it all out here

SASE members are very warmly welcomed to join this crucial conversation for working people and for the planet. If you have a class that is related to these issues, please feel free to invite your students to join the conversation as well! This will be a one of a kind learning experience.
